• Canadian Experience Class (Permanent Residence in only 6 months!) Foreign graduates from a Canadian post-secondary institution (who have studied for at least two years) with at least one year of full-time (or equivalent) skilled work experience in Canada may qualify under this class. • Internship Work Permits for Work-Study Co-op Programs Students can participate in a co-op work placement program if it is “an integral component of their program of study.” Co-op work terms cannot constitute more than 50% of the intended program of study.

• Post-Graduate Work Permits Students can now get up to a three-year post-grad Work Permit which enables them to get the experience necessary to qualify and obtain permanent residence in Canada. • New Work Permits after Post-Graduate Work Permits Expire It’s now much easier for international students to get a new Work Permit after their Post-Grad Work Permit expires, allowing them to stay working in Canada for extended periods – usually leading to permanent residence.

Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs)

Certain provinces offer Permanent Residence through Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). The criteria can vary, but essentially all PNPs require students to have graduated from a recognized, post-secondary educational institution in Canada; worked under a Work Permit for a certain period of time for an employer in their respective province; and be offered a full-time permanent job from an employer that may or may not be related to the applicant’s field of study. In all cases, the applicant must intend to live, work and establish his/her career in the respective province.
